"Hogwarts School and my students of 3 A"

 As usual this year's open lesson was in October. I took part (again😊) in the festival of  "Teacher of  Year - 2022", at the school level. It was a really fun lesson😊I decided to take the theme of Hogwarts, because this theme is my beloved one and besides the kids like the plot of the books about "Harry Potter". 

At the beginning of the lesson we began with the song "What's the weather like?"


After this activity I pointed to the fireplace from which letters from Hogwarts flew out📩, in each of them there were written questions in the backside of the ticket to the Hogwarts Express. (To make the envelopes  with letters I used the site PhotoFunia.    https://photofunia.com/effects/hogwarts_letter  )



 Next I asked students to go through the  imaginary “wall” to take a sit in the Hogwarts Express. 


Then the students were divided by “sorting hat” into Hogwarts houses, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff (I chose these houses, you might choose other ones).  I took a hat and put the cards with the names of houses, every student took a card and took his place. 

When the kids took their sits I asked a student  from each group to come to the board to the "Whomping willow". Each student should take a leaf and answer the questions. For each right answer, the group gets a point. The teacher gives “gemstones” for points. 


After going by the whamping willow the students imagine they were going through the Forbidden forest, where they met the "spiders and bats". They should have made up sentences with the words which were hidden on the backside of the spiders and bats. 



To the dynamic pause I used the rhyme "Siman says" and changed it to “Harry Potter says...” 

Next activity  was the “Transfiguration” lesson. On the board there was a “house” with windows. The students should have opened and showed the word miming it. We counted the gemstones (I used plastic stones from FixPrice). The winer group took a chance to openthe last window of the attic where there was a key of a treasure chest. Students opened the treasure with the key. There were candies as a treasure😊

   

             

At the end I asked students to show the smileys 😁 or😒 if they liked or disliked the lesson. All of them adored it (as they said to me). And when I asked what activity they liked most of all, many of them told they loved when they answered the questions of whomping willow and the spiders/bats. Some of them were fond of miming activity in the transfiguration lesson. 


All in all I might say that the lesson was held productive and engaging for both the students and the teacher👩

                "Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry"

     The teacher may use tactics for listening: pre-listening, while-listening and post-listening activities with these new words and the video. Before listening you might learn the new words. While I taught new words in the lesson to my students,  we use "magic wands" (we took pens and imagined that they were wands from Harry Potter books) and we did "swish and flick" like in the movie. At the same time we pronounced  each new word, like Hermione did with "Wingardium Leviosa"

Teaching online

Nowadays I found myself in online teaching😄 Now I understand how it is interesting to teach not only in the classroom. My daughter Kamila helps me to shot videos👧. Our first video was about the weather and the clothes for the 2nd graders.

In the lesson one can use the videos from YouTube, there are lots of wonderful songs on this theme. For example, many kids love this one, as well as me😊


Also these days I found a useful dashboard MIRO, where you can make your own projects for lessons. Without doubt I recommend it to all teachers.



                                                         😸Next topic was about pets. 

My favourite song about pets is this one. By the way my kids also like it😉


"Work and play"

             The open lesson was in October. I took part in the festival of  "Teacher of the Year - 2020". It was a really fun lesson😊 I decided to take the theme of Hogwarts as the kids like the plot of the books about "Harry Potter"
            I divided the class into two groups (Gryffindor and Ravenclaw) and each of the group chose the captain. I gave to each "boss" of the group the "magic" hats. At the beginning the captains came to the board and took the letters from "Hogwarts" and found out what is hidden in the letters.
                                
Then we opened the secret album of Harry Potter😊 As the topic was about Present Simple, the students should have said the verbs in Present Simple.
Then the students were taught how to say the time in English. 

After learning the time in English, the students were handed out the papers, where they had to fill them with the correct words.
In general, both the students and the jury liked the lesson, as well as I did😉


 
   

My house

At the  English language week, my spouse, Ruslan Anvarovich and I held an open lesson in the 3rd grade. It was a wonderful experience for both of us. 😊 The theme was "My house".
                    
First, we divided the class into two groups. To recall words from the last lessons, each of the students went to the blackboard and spoke their sentences, showing pictures. After that, the groups were handed out papers with words, where they should have chosen the odd one out.

After these activities, the children got another entertaining activity. Each student from the groups came to the smartboard and chose the brick to find out what room was behind the bricks. The pupils loved this activity very much. 😊



With interest, students did another work. In this activity, the groups had to find the furniture behind the door by choosing the correct key. There was one peculiarity: if the pupil would choose a wrong key😄, the group loses.

The last activity was to find out the house riddles. Each group had a riddle sheet, and they told riddles to each other. For the correct answer, the group got one point.
All in all, the lesson passed entertaining for both the teachers and students.
